This is Freedom Tower, but whose freedom are we talking here?

This is holy ground, and we are free to say that.

In case you live in an Amish colony, don’t have electricity by lacking of paying a bill or are on the Kardashians, odds are you are well-versed in the “Mosque-erade” ballyhoo involving with President Barack Obama and an Islamic activity center that has a bead on some choice real estate near Ground Zero of all places.

Around 9/11, this country was unified on all fronts. No one could screw with us. Nowadays, meh? Not so much.

How soon we have forgotten… until recently, when this moderate Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf decides to get his Donald Trump on and purchase some prime real estate in Uptown NYC.

You know the area. There were these two way tall buildings there once, and their sudden and tragic demise cause people like everyone to hate people like him. Including me for a time (who lost many friends in law enforcement, some frat brothers and almost a member of my family).

Is he a terrorist? I doubt it. Is he like those hellbound agents? Probably not. Does he worship the same god and is therefore painted with the same crimson-stained brush? Definitely.

Anywhoo, this country is in a tissy over this fool who thinks it is a swell idea to build an Islamic activity center two blocks away from the hallowed grounds of 9/11.

Fast forward to last week where we find America’s leader at a breakfast with a bunch of fasting Muslims and he says this:

Muslims “have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country,” Obama said at an Iftar meal at the White House for Muslims breaking their Ramadan fast late Friday. That includes “the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances.”

This country flipped its lid. Well, 50 percent of it. You would think he gave the silo codes to Osama, with a lipstick stain on the envelope. Chaos. Concern. And a whole lot of cussing.

What the what? This is not the sound bite you need to offer at this point in your career sir.

Now, his reputation is taking a beating. His approval ratings are taking a bath. And some seedy people with very little in terms of dental hygiene want to take him for a long ride. We’re talking vitriol of the highest order. In fact, a recent Washington Post poll shows 1 of 5 Americans are convinced Obama is a Muslim.

Immediately, he makes that loud, annoying beeping sound when he backs up that fast and says:

The proposed location has touched raw nerves — and on Saturday Obama clarified that he was not addressing the appropriateness of the mosque’s particular location. “I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there,” Obama said on a visit to Florida. “I was commenting very specifically on the right people have that dates back to our founding. That’s what our country is about,” he said.

He’s right. I don’t like it, but he’s right.

If I am so grateful for those men and women who fight the Taliban and all other foreign scourges so I can stay at home and worship Jesus Christ until I am blue in the face and bruising my knees… then, I have be as equally grateful that other people can do the same with whatever deity they worship, no matter how much I disagree with it on a theological level.

But… and this is where our fearless leader missed it… there is freedom of religion and a freedom to stop stupid business decisions. This “activity center” would become target practice for many people, and shame on the dimwitted NYC board to not figure that out. Shame on the government for sticking their nose in a city issue. And shame on most folk who called Obama into treason for his statement.

Shoot, I understand what he said and I lost people at 9/11. He did talk about the “right” to do it, not whether they were “right” to do it. And that’s the rub.

As long as President Obama continues to vociferously support Muslims despite things like this, people will continue to look at the White House vehemently like that (note picture). Sad but true.

Next time, have a little patriotism and understand just what you are saying Mr. President. Our country is not fodder for a speech. This stuff is real, and albeit unfortunate and incorrect to hurl all Muslims in the short Taliban bus, that’s how they are viewed as long as idiots like the aforementioned Imam are not throttled for bringing up an idea like that. And then your cronies think it’s a heckuva idea.

Politicians screw it up all the time because they leave their subjectivity at the door and are too busy glad handing for the next vote.

MEMO to Obama: the American people do not care to see you talk about this and trying to make inroads with disenchanted religious groups. They want jobs, money, jobs… and oh yeah, money.

Jesus was awesome that way because he cared less about being P.C. and more about being J.C. (Yeah, I’ve been saving that one.) There’s something to be said about that because he was about his Father’s business, not sticking his nose in everyone else’s.

Some churches have realized what TBN declared a long, long time ago – let’s just make Christianity one big clique and only talk to other Jesus thinking folk.

I suppose that way, they know they won’t have to roll up their sleeves, get caught up in a biblical debate and won’t get any of that sinner schmutz on their shoes.

A message for all militant Christians

Just Sayin

Such is life for the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Fla., which is the same church that got in trouble for posting a “No Homo Mayor” sign against an openly gay mayoral candidate.

Keeping it classy!

Yep, this is a church whose touchy-feely approach to witnessing has propelled them in headlines because of the huge ‘Islam is of the devil’ sign in their front yard. And to further the conversation of most loving church ever, the pastor, Terry Jones, has a book with the same name.

Theological opinions aside, I’m going to go out on a limb and presume this is not how to change lives and influence people for Jesus.

Anywhoo, this same church has increased their affinity for local Muslims over their plans to host the International Burn a Koran [sic] Day, according to WOW News’ Pew Forum.

We feel, as Christians, one of our jobs is to warn,” said Jones. The goal of these and other protests are to give Muslims an opportunity to convert, he said. In response to the posting of the event on Facebook a little more than a week ago, Jones said that people have been mailing Qurans to the church to burn. He said organizers got the idea, in part, from another Facebook page, called “Everybody Draw Muhammad Day.”

To warn? Seriously? That’s our number one calling in life. And even if it was, pastor, what Muslim is going to listen to that “warning”?! Name one… I’ll wait.

No one – Muslim, Buddhist, Mormon, et al – wants to be classified as a borderline Satanist. There’s no warning there. That’s antagonism. And then to burn their holy writ? What is this, a filming of “Footloose“?!

Where’s the warning and love of God in that? It’s not there, and although the flame consumption is a skosh prophetic, what affect do you really think you are having on the Body of Christ or the population of heaven with this marshmallow roast? Because the answer is zero.

You are a twit and you’re setting the entire Church look like troglodytes, Pastor Jones.

Don’t believe me? Watch what happens the next time I witness to a Muslim. “So, would you burn my book?” Instead of a chance to pierce someone’s soul with the life-changing word of God, we have to do triage PR because of this dolt’s stunt

Imagine if some Imam were to have a fish-fry with a few dozen Bibles, and then thought to witness to Christians passing by about the love of Muhammad. Who in their right Jesus-loving mind would listen to that guy without pummeling him in the name of God first?

Answer: No one. Which is about how many people this will reach for the benefit of the kingdom.

Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

One way to heaven, as we can see. Unfortunately, this pastor hasn’t figured out how to drive any one there or even give directions. Pity.

And before you ask, yes, this is legit sans photoshop.

That is a Playboy magazine cover with what looks like a silly choir boy depicting Jesus Christ holding hands with a half butt-naked, Portuguese model. And although this is completely blasphemous, you think anyone is raising a kerfuffle about this?

What’s that? Haven’t heard this story on CNN? Didn’t catch wind of this through ABC? Was even a mystery on TBN and Daystar, for God’s sake?

Yeppers.

Why did they do something so heinous, so sardonic and so blatant. ‘Cause they can.

Once again, my theory rings true: Christianity is the world’s only legal prejudice – without reprocussion, without fear.

And add to the list the publisher of Playboy Portugal. Well, former publisher as it seems even porno, viagra should-be spokesman Hugh Hefner has scruples, according to MSNBC.

Theresa Hennessy, who is vice president of public relations at Playboy, told the newspaper, “We did not see or approve the cover and pictorial in the July issue of Playboy Portugal,” adding that “it is a shocking breach of our standards and we would have not allowed it to be published if we had seen it in advance.”

“We are in the process of terminating our agreement with the Portuguese publisher,” Hennessy said.

Ya’ think?! Yes, it would be lovely if Christians everywhere united and got off their blessed assurance to call the publication and demand more than just a slight “termination” (because you know the executives will be given jobs at Playboy Ukraine or something like that). But I enjoy living so I don’t think I will hold my breath.

What I will do is this: groan, kick and scream at anyone who bothers to spread the crap a skosh too thin with the half-baked “It’s freedom of press and speech” argument. Can you imagine if that was Muhammad on the cover? Hell, Louis Farrakhan even?

Hef’s brothel would be carpetbombed within the hour! Yet, here we go, back to church on Sunday, “Gurl… can you believe that cover. Child, please. You know God don’t like ugly.”

“Come on HiScrivener. They are cancelling the publication. What more do you want?”

Yeah, not so fast. Here’s the real reason:

The magazine’s Portuguese subsidiary, Frestacom-Lisbon Media Publishing, reportedly neglected to show the cover to Playboy before publication, thereby breaching the licensing agreement between the two companies.

Ah well. So much for scruples.

Have you ever been watching TV and see a report from an oil magnate, like the CEO of “Big Oil, Inc.” who is issuing an apology to his investors for being down in the first quarter… yet that company still made $3.4 billion?!

This appalling story of resounding bad form and complete disregard for anyone is like that.

Meet ‘Cordoba House’, as the story details in the Christian Post.

"Never Forget". How about "Anyone Still Remember?"

Anyone remember that cataclysmic event known solely for its infamous date? 9/11? You know, Islamic terrorists? Airplanes? National hysteria?

So in the “What the what” department, a few Imams and a gaggle of militant Muslims who dig this “free speech” thing in America have decided to petition a New York community board to build a $100 million mosque, Islamic community center and basketball court practically in ‘Ground Zero’, the site for the devastating attacks.

Yeah, I know. And even worse, it was approved with a vote of 29 to 1.

To kick this tirade off, props to whomever was the only person on that board with the temerity to say, “You know, this may not be such a good idea.” And the rest of those dolts who are either so blindsided with P.C. or wetting their britches to say what they should have, shame on you. Idiots.

“I couldn’t believe that this is really true,” wrote Sabatina James to The Christian Post in an e-mail. “Building the mosque where thousands of people died because of Islamic terror is just indecent.”

James, whose book My Fight for Faith and Freedom is a bestseller in Germany, is currently living under police protection in Germany because of death threats against her for converting to Christianity. She said her German friends were shocked when they heard that a mosque might be built near the site of the 9/11 terror attacks.

I mean, seriously. What is anyone thinking in the Big Apple… with a worm in it?

What do you think would happen if when Louis Farrakhan dies, Mosque Maryam (the warm, national confines of the Nation of Islam) goes belly up and is vacated. This is site is historic, but a few rabbis think that is some prime real estate would be a great location for a Jewish school and gets the party started with a sweet Bat Mitzvah.

You think the kerfuffle that would proceed would make headlines? Possibly a guest appearance on ‘Americas Most Wanted’? MEMO to New York City: Two words for ya’, “Never Forget.”

Yeah, apparently you did because that was a cutsy, marketing phrase your beloved city concocted to plaster on everyone’s bumper this side of the Mississippi. You know, kind of a tribute thing for all those natives that um, DIED in your friggin’ town.

I know 2001 seems like a land in far, far away but believe me, it’s still too soon for this. This is much more than a religious issue; it’s a national one.

Community Board 1 member Rob Townley who called the plan a “seed of peace.”

Yeah, that’s nice there Bobby. Only it’s not so much a seed as it is a wheelbarrow full of fertilizer, if you know what I’m saying. Although it’s tragically unfair for all Muslims in this country to be painted with the “that religion” brush, it’s the 800-pound gorilla in the room.

Cordoba House is not a tribute or a memorial. It’s a reminder of that gorilla flinging poo at the memories of the 2,700 people who were murdered on that fateful day.

If you want to honor those victims, build a park, do community service or help clean that mess. But do not build a house of worship toward your god where so many still need to feel a touch from theirs.

“Indecent?” That’s the understatement of the year. The only problem is that we can’t seem to find anyone in New York who is willing to overstate the obvious.

By the looks of national TV ratings, not many people have been watching the “Miss USA” pageant for the past… decade.

And with the exception of Carrie Prejean and her Christian eh, purchased endowments, no one on earth could name the last nine Miss USAs, save Donald Trump. And he could only do it with his wife’s help.

Enter newly crowned Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih. Come on down! You’re the contestant on “Something is just not right.”

Sure, she's cute... but look behind her mosque.

According to ABC News (and the aforementioned link… with video), the triumphant walk for the new Miss USA took her straight into controversy as a Muslim woman who flaunts her beauty, and who once flaunted it so well she won a stripper contest.

Shortly after the release of pictures showing Fakih cradling a dozen roses across her strapless white dress while balancing a shimmering tiara on her head, came photos of Fakih in red short shorts, a tiny tank top and towering stilettos while balancing against a pole.

Fakih won the “Stripper 101” contest which was sponsored by a Detroit radio show Mojo in the Morning in 2007.

Well, good times. Had this mess came out about Prejean before the gay marriage hullabaloo, she would have been lampooned. But then again, her mouth and insatiable appetite deserved that ire anyway.

But here is this nice little Muslim girl, and because we can’t hate on any other religion sans those associated Jesus Christ, this ‘private dancer’ gets a pass for earning a quick buck.

Keep it classy, America.

However, since Christians aren’t allowed to espouse any views against this flashdance, then what about her homies in Hezbollah? According to FOX News, meh?

In an interview Tuesday with Lebanese television, Hezbollah official Hassan Fadlallah reportedly had few glowing words to describe Fakih, who became the first Muslim American on Sunday to secure the crown. “The criteria through which we evaluate women are different from those of the west,” Fadlallah told the television station, AFP reported.

In other words, “We haven’t seen the tape yet, but when we do, her USO tour will be interesting.”

Of course, even comparing her with Hezbollah, the hub for terrorism is a farce… and a conservative one at that. Thanks CNN:

“Absolutely not,” Fakih told CNN’s Octavia Nasr. “That is a stereotype and a prejudiced statement made by only one reporter who had made that title before I was crowned Miss USA.” The blogger’s accusation “was completely made up out of her own prejudiced mind,” she said.

So, back to the stripping.

Anyone outraged by this? Not so much because only the people who work for Donald Trump and the families of contestants seem to watch this mess any longer.

However, it is alarming how many people aren’t talking about this. Typically, that number directly reflects the many people who were lighting their torches and arming themselves with pitchforks over what we believed was a kind-hearted Christian speaking her mind and faith.

Can anyone say, “Double standard.”

What Fakih is no more worse than half the women who begin as drunken troglodytes during Spring Break and end up as fodder for “Girls Gone Wild” or something they will surely regret when they reach… sobriety.

Heck, she was wearing more clothes in the video than on stage during the swim suit competition. The premise is the flagrant double standard.

The winners of this competition used to be positioned for role model-hood. Entertaining the masses while showing girls around the world how to be a dignified woman with purpose and passion.

Instead, with the inclusion of silicon valley (no, not the tech place in California) and scruples so elastic, I could slingshot a canoe with them, the Miss USA contest is no more than a contest for 15 minutes and an opportunity to get lots of swag in the name of yourself.

Is that the Arab-American way? Nah, but she’s a step in the right direction. Unfortunately.
