In case you missed it… like maybe you were orbiting the moon or visiting the International Space Station… before the Presidential pep rallies, there were some Pentecostal polemics at Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church.

And if Barack Obama does win the presidency, his JFK moment to be quoted from here to eternity will be this:

“That’s above my pay grade.”

This “community organizer” (Oh come on! Like you haven’t used that line around the water cooler) wasn’t discussing the salary he would make in the White House. He “changed” his mind and was pontificating about his lack of qualifications to intelligently discuss abortion.

Good on ya’, Barack. It’s those kind of off-the-cuff moments the media crave and make your constituents cringe. To many, that figured because outside of a teleprompter, biblical issues aren’t quite his strong suit.

To that end, we have the ubiquitous flip-flop to save face and Obama would like to have a second chance at that first impression, as noted in the Wall Street Journal. So, get your medical degrees, folks… there’s a spin DOCTOR loose:

Appearing on ABC-TV’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” the Illinois senator was asked whether his response – “above my pay grade” — to the question of when a baby gains human rights was “too flip,” Obama told Stephanopoulos, “Probably. Yes. All I meant to communicate was that I don’t presume to be able to answer these kinds of theological questions.”

Oh, but you want to break out the Pentateuch every time you are galvanting in front of evanglicals. And NOW, you can’t answer the difficult medical mystery of “HEARTBEAT = LIFE”. Yeah, that is a doozie. My Wall Watcher who can’t talk yet could figure that one out, but hey, since you have to rock with the Theology degree to answer the riddles of the universe… Mazel Tov.

“What I do know is that abortion is a moral issue…and that in wrestling with those issues, I don’t think that the government criminalizing the choices that families make is the best answer for reducing abortions,” Sen. Obama said on This Week. Sen. Biden said of his personal views against abortion: “For me to impose that judgment on everyone else who is equally and maybe more devout than I am…is inappropriate in a pluralistic society.”

In other words, you would like a push. Don’t want to tweak your supporters and the throng that filled Invesco Field a couple of weeks back; however, you have the darnest recollection of a couple of little heartbeats that were in your wife’s BELLY every time you go home.

Hmmm… I wonder what you really think? Then again, you’re a politician. We have to all learn to read between the lines to look for the PULSE of that matter, eh? 🙂
