Michael Brea killing his mother in the name of God? No way.

Back to the “Making us all look bad” department: Have you heard about this terrible story involving a disgruntled actor from “Ugly Betty”?

[Actor Michael Brea of 'Ugly Betty' fame] Convinced his church-going mom was possessed by Satan, a Scripture-spouting killer hacked her to death with a 3-foot sword as she knelt in their apartment, police sources said.

It sounds like a B-horror-flick, but this is all true. I have been to church half my life and I have never felt the urge to evangelize so hard that I want to explore what a knife does for salvation. Much less a Masonic sword. And on my mother.

I mean, this story just gets more and more depressing.

Yannick Brea, 55, was found kneeling – as if offering a final prayer – after she was butchered during her son’s demented diatribe about repentance, police said. “Sinner! Sinner!” howled Michael Brea.” Neighbors and police sources said. “You never accepted Jesus!”

What made this possessed, demented dude think killing her would make a difference is beyond me.

Saints, we need to pray that anyone and everyone who claim they know God come to experience the love of Christ! If they did, the Church would become more open, Christians – or “Christians” – would seem more tangible and Jesus would be discussed in terms of splendor and wonder, instead of bitterness and angst.

This story is tragic, but in tragedy, there is truth. Enter Brea’s uncle:

“Something happened that made him do it,” Brea’s uncle told the New York Daily News. “The devil entered him.”

Enough said. The enemy is real, folks. Let’s spread that word and perhaps we can become more vigilant about prayer.

Something happier coming tomorrow. Promise.

Druids get legal by establishing their own non profitFrom overweight 40-year-old men playing Dungeons & Dragons in Mommy’s garage to now, being an official tax bracket, it seems worshiping the sun, moon, stars and tree sap is finally paying off, according to The Telegraph (UK).

The Druid Network has been given charitable status by the Charity Commission for England and Wales, the quango that decides what counts as a genuine faith as well as regulating fundraising bodies.

It guarantees the modern group, set up in 2003, valuable tax breaks but also grants the ancient religion equal status to more mainstream denominations.

This could mean that Druids, the priestly caste in Celtic societies across Europe, are categorised separately in official surveys of religious believers.

“The Druid Network”?! Seriously?

Are we about to watch a gaggle of hooded trollish women about to instruct us on today’s top headlines? Now that these wanna-be Jawas from the set of “Star Wars” are too legit to quit, what’s next? Ask the lead Hobbitt from Tattooine:

Emma Restall Orr, founder of The Druid Network, added: “The Charity Commission now has a much greater understanding of Pagan, animist, and polytheist religions, so other groups from these minority religions – provided they meet the financial and public benefit criteria for registration as charities – should find registering a much shorter process than the pioneering one we have been through.”

See there? That’s what this is really about, folks. The Boys under the Hood want some kickbacks because all that traveling to Stonehenge can be costly. Air fare. Cab ride. And all that cheap fast food.

I know the robes are one size fits all, but even all those cheeseburgers and dancing under the stars really add the pounds. Good thing the ‘Network’ is banking. Maybe know they can join a gym. You know, with the Benedictine Monks.

And in other news: the sky is blue, water is wet and our economy is not doing so hot.

Seriously, why is this a headline? This stark revelation makes him no different than Al Sharpton – it’s media pimpdom. “Oh, I’m out of the news for a little while, so what can I talk about that will make the spotlight shine brighter in my relaxed hair?”

It’s a perfect storm really. Muslims. 9/11. Obama. And now Farrakhan. Well, Mazel Tov brother minister.

Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan said Thursday an Islamic community center and mosque planned near ground zero should be built because Muslims were among those of many faiths who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. “Why then should a mosque, a cultural center, not be constructed a few blocks away?” Farrakhan asked at a news conference in Washington, where he was joined by a coalition of African-American Muslims.

Barack Obama and Louis Farrakhan

See who is looking over your shoulder?

Let’s play that same game of logic, shall we brother minister?

You know, Jews died in the 9/11 attacks as well, so would you mind having interfaith dinners at the fellowship hall of said mosque. You would rather kiss a white woman, wouldn’t you?

This is separatist prattling as usual. Get that, “joined by a coalition of African-American Muslims.” Yes, there are a bevy of white Muslims but none of them stand for the “white man is the devil.”

Sure, they abstain from pork and pray five times daily, as all good Islamic believers do, but they have that pigment issue that prevents them from being asked to break bread.

Yes, Muslims have a certain unalienable right to practice their religion in America. Yes, stereotypes exist in this country. And yes, thanks to the tragic attacks on 9/11, Muslims are the ire of every evil stereotype there is, despite the right to avoid them.

There are good-minded, kind-spirited Muslims everywhere. There are also sardonic human beings that are extremist swine that murder in the name of their religion. Likewise, there are benevolent people who love Jesus Christ and represent him daily. There are also malevolent, twisted people who propagate their pablum to pad their pockets and mislead people, all under the guise of God and blessings.

The point is this: When you talk religion, you will hack off half the people in any room. And why? Because of the extremists. They exist in any religion, or lack thereof (I can think of a few Atheists that go way out of bounds).

MEMO to Farrakhan, while some televangelists and false prophets are creating a rouse to swindle money and fake healings, none of them got on a jet and killed thousands of people because they believed heaven was a place of vestal virgins waiting to congratulate them.

Do us all a favor? Go find a real cause and speak on that. Your support for the Ground Zero Mosque is about as inevitable as President Obama supporting one of your shindigs on the same day he is expected to have lunch with a gaggle of black pastors.

Moving on…

Acclaimed vampire author and official nocturnal lady, Anne Rice, has denounced her relationship with Christianity via CNN.

Yeah, she was a solider. She hung up her bat wings and affinity for Nosferatu to write about cherubs and “Christ the Lord.” (And it was a nice read.) Alas, things went awry along the way, but what? Rice seemed dedicated to writing about God.

She even penned an autobiography about being “Called out of the Darkness.” So, what gives? The dimwitted “Twilight” and “Trublood” rage call her back to her enigmatic roots?

Before folk get all up in a huff about this announcement not on her website but via Facebook of all things, remember she is an author – a brilliant one. Read the words, not the sentiment:

For those who care, and I understand if you don’t: Today, I quit being a Christian. I remain committed to Christ as always, but not to being “Christian” or to being part of Christianity. It’s simply impossible for me to belong to this quarrelsome, hostile, disputatious and deserved infamous group. For 10 years, I’ve tried. I’ve failed. My conscience will allow nothing else.

While this is a sad commentary about one’s faith in Jesus regardless of the source, look a little deeper and I believe you will see a trend – an all-too-familiar one to those in the Church who demand more out of God’s children in the face of a world that is beginning to demand less out of God.

Rice apparently wasn’t done explaining her vitriol and basing her discussion, so back on Facebook she updates her status:

My faith in Christ is central to my life. My conversion from a pessimistic atheist lost in a world I didn’t understand, to an optimistic believer in a universe created and sustained by a loving God is crucial to me, but following Christ does not mean following His followers. Christ is infinitely more important than Christianity and always will be, no matter what Christianity is, has been or might become.

And there’s the rub. God’s children. Again.

Do you understand the shape the Church is in, and how many people warming pews could give a crap less about its bastardized geometry?!

While preachers are gallivanting across Rome with alleged, elicit trysts, butchering the Family Feud in the pulpit and esteemed ministry leaders using the Word of God to jetset and look like ‘Big Pimpin’, the rest of the Church are left to do one of three things without no one caring:

  1. Despite the headlines, the rumors and the glaring facts, continue to press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14 NIV).
  2. Lump the entire Church into one toxic, smoldering pond and figure everyone is the same because of the freaks we see plastered on the Wall (this one namely)
  3. Live like most newly converted Christians with an unnerving testimony or appearance – sit in the back of church, folk point at you and you walk out the back door without no one knowing you left… that is, until you update your Facebook page that Christians suck.

This was the plight of Anne Rice and so, so many more Christians who happen to have one too many body piercings, or have slept with one too many people, or have had one too many abortions, or been to prison for one too many years. In other words, there are one too many people the Church allows to slip right through its pretentious fingers because they don’t add up to what is considered the status quo.

Christians are sheep for a reason

Think about it. We are sheep for a reason.

Just because you meet someone who acts like they have been in the Lord’s way for decades, doesn’t mean you should act that way. Because consider the source… he been in the Lord’s WAY. God can’t do anything through that fool, so find another role model. Try the Bible, not the lectern at [insert a maligned megachurch pastor here] church.

Tell me. Did Jesus sacrifice his entire life for folk that look like the Waltons? The Cleavers? The Munsters? The idiots on Jersey Shore? The answer is yes!

Regardless of your Beverly Hillbillies baggage you bring to God, he accepts you. Despite your brash and offensive expressions, God loves you. And no matter of the amount of black you wear, cloves you smoke and cuss words you dish, Jesus is still there with arms wide open.

Here’s the catch: THEY CAN’T SEE THAT UNLESS YOU TROGLODYTE TWITS DO IT!

Jesus needs all Christians to act like, well, Christ! If needed a fashion police, Mr. TBN Big Shot, believe me, he would hire one. If he wanted someone to hurl the condemnatory Pentecostal finger in someone’s face, trust me, he would give you one first for making a child of his feel like trash.

How many Anne Rices have walked in the front door of the Church waiting for the love of God to envelop them, but instead some shady, ne’er-do-well usher with an utter disregard for the aforementioned agape judges one of these newly crowned saints, looks at him or her through the bottom of that flat, fat nose of his, forces the saint to sit in the back of this monolithic church in shame, and out the back door they leave never to be heard from again?

So, there’s a lot of hype and ballyhoo over Anne Rice “leaving” Christianity, but I contend she was never there in the first place. Largely, thanks to the Body of Christ that never loved on her in the first place.

Sound like anyone you know? Of course not, because most of us don’t know those people were ever there. And if you do have the fortune of meeting them, get to know them. You never know when one of them could write a blog, blast anyone who makes his Daddy in heaven look stupid and puts all charlatans on notice.

Just sayin’

Make no mistake about this: You can never make a fool out of God. Whatever you plant is what you’ll harvest. (Galatians 6:7 GWV)

Ah. If only folk believed this verse, there wouldn’t be such a surprise when Jesus comes back. And then I read about what ABC’s Nightline just covered about atheists and their ‘de-baptism’ ceremonies, and then I think some folk will never get it.

Wielding a blow-dryer, a leading atheist conducted a mass “de-baptism” of fellow non-believers and symbolically dried up the offending waters that were sprinkled on their foreheads as young children… One of atheism’s premier provocateurs, Edwin Kagin, faced the crowd and raised high a hairdryer labeled “Reason and Truth.”

Atheists better watch how close that hair dryer gets. They could get burned.

Stories like this make want to take a paddle to the behind of these dolts called “The Board of Education” and teach them a thing or two.

Are you kidding me?! A hair dryer? As if to evaporate the dire waters that were sprinkled upon their nubile foreheads decades ago.

Yeah, the water is gone by now genius, but whatever makes you happy. And while we are on that topic, what about God makes you so unhappy?

Is it the age-old question about suffering and pain? You want an honest answer from a blood-baptized child of God? I don’t know.

That said, even if God is not real and I have been believing a hoax (and I’m not), my life has still be full of more joy just thinking I am going to heaven than these miserable fops with a case of the giggles because they are mocking God.

Kagin, who is American Atheists’ national legal director, firmly believes that regardless of one’s religious beliefs, each person has the right to say or do what he or she wants, provided it is within the law. In the past, he has reportedly called out parents who subject their children to strict fundamentalist religious education, referring to it as child abuse.

Everyone's a comedian until the trumpet sounds

Some folk REALLY believe this should be the case

He’s right in some circumstances. There are Christian parents out there who literally beat the “love of God” into their children. There are “Christians” who are some of the lowest scum walking the face of the earth.

And I am fairly certain the number one reason anyone – like the Major Domo of the Dryer here – is an atheist is because they were scorched by a foul-mouthed, evil-spirited “Child of God.”

That’s unfortunate and very sad, but it still gives them no right to mock God. Although his amazing spirit of grace and mercy is understanding as to why they do it, make no mistake… well, you read that already.

All true science and history, if rightly understood, support the fact of God. This evidence is so strong that, as the Bible says:

“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God” (Psalm 14:1).

If you read the rest of insightful article (and you should), you will learn two irrefutable facts:

  1. There are some intensely hurting and bitter people out there that need to perchance REAL Christians and learn about God’s love
  2. This “fool” is off his rocker.

“Come forward now and receive the spirit of hot air that taketh away the stigma and taketh away the remnants of the stain of baptismal water,” Kagin shouts.

And speaking of hot air, Atheists continue to bash, maul and avoid any Christian who attempts to discuss the reality of Christ. I understand they think that’s an oxymoron, but that’s solely because they can get around the “problem of pain,” as C.S. Lewis once called it.

Who can blame them?! It baffles me sometimes, and I love Jesus… and have been burned oh so badly by so-called, mealy mouthed Christians (I could hyperlink to them too). What I do know is this:

Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. (Romans 8:26-28 MSG)

Crap happens, but I can either blame God or presume if there’s a God in this world… there’s also a devil with an equal amount of passion, power and persistence to make my life a living hell.

I have experienced tragedy and joy, pain and pleasure. Despite it all, I don’t need a hair dryer to express my hurt. I found a real person to talk to about Jesus Christ and then got my life straight with the Lord. And despite this cockamamie story that ABC dedicated quality air time to broadcast, you can do the same thing.

A real Christian will listen. And if you can’t seem to find one, call on the Lord… he always answers.
